The commander of the 83rd Guards Air Assault Brigade, Artem Gorodilov, has been detained on suspicion of fraud and is under sanctions from the United States and other countries, Kommersant reported on July 4.
According to the publication, FSB officers detained the guard colonel in Ryazan and took him to Moscow, where they handed him over to representatives of the Main Military Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
This department is investigating a criminal case of particularly large-scale fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In the investigation materials, a guard colonel is listed as a suspect.
The report states that on July 4, the investigation will complete all necessary investigative actions and will apply to the military court with a request to select a preventive measure for the suspect.
It is not yet known what kind of thefts and the amount of money Colonel Gorodilov is accused of. According to the Criminal Code, an amount exceeding 1 million rubles is considered to be particularly large.
