The exhibition at one of Marseille’s largest museums, the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, has been partially closed due to a bedbug infestation, French television channel BFMTV reported on July 4.
Four halls and several offices of the museum were infected with bedbugs. It is characteristic that on the official website of the museum, in the message about the closure of several exhibitions, it was not specified that the reason was bedbugs.
“Dear visitors, we would like to inform you that some of our exhibition areas will be temporarily unavailable for health reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to reopen these locations as soon as possible. During this period, we invite you to take advantage, free of charge, of other exhibitions and events available at the museum and at Fort Saint-Jean.”says the museum’s website home page.
It should be noted that bedbugs were first discovered in the museum on June 30. And the employees immediately went to the administration to close the museum to visitors. Many employees complained of bedbug bites. However, the sanitary inspection arrived only today.
