Jon Landau, the Oscar-winning producer of “Titanic” and “Avatar,” has died at the age of 63, the newspaper reports. The keeperThe cause of death has not been disclosed.
“John was a visionary whose extraordinary talent and passion brought some of the most unforgettable stories to life on the big screen,” Alan Bergman, co-president of Disney Entertainment, wrote Saturday.
“His extraordinary contribution to the film industry has left an indelible mark and he will be sorely missed. He was an iconic and successful producer, but an even greater man and a true force of nature who inspired everyone around him,” he added.
The producer made history in 1997 with Titanic, which became the first film to gross one billion dollars (around 920 million euros) worldwide, and broke that record twice with Avatar in 2009 and its sequel Avatar: The Shape of Water in 2022.
