Denis Belyaev, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who stole a tank with his colleagues and surrendered to Russian captivity, spoke about the source of inspiration on July 8 in an interview with TASS.
According to Belyaev, they decided to follow the example of Maxim Likhachev, who surrendered to Russia near Donetsk. Thanks to him, our troops received the T-64.
The man said that he and his comrades made the decision to refuse to fight with Russian troops after taking up positions in the Nevelskoye area. The reason was “oppressed and hopeless” the condition of his comrades.
“We saw on the Internet how people surrender even in combat vehicles and everything turns out well for them, so we did it.”he stressed. Among those who surrendered were soldiers from the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade and the 107th Rocket Artillery Brigade.
Belyaev also said that TCC employees forcibly took him to the army when he arrived in Odessa to work.
Recall that Maxim Likhachev surrendered to Russian troops in May 2024. He also stole a T-64.
