Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon on July 7, despite the opposition of Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
The fifth player in the world, Medvedev, started the match with a 0-3 lead, but then the Russian player made it 5-3 in his favour. After that, Dimitrov (10th place in the ATP ranking) refused to continue the match due to an injury sustained in the sixth game.
During the match, Medvedev hit six aces, made one error on his second serve and won two games on his opponent’s serve (three break points in total). Dimitrov has one serve to his name, not a single double fault and one break point converted from two won.
In the quarter-finals of the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, Daniil Medvedev will face the world’s top player, Italian Jannik Sinner.
The Wimbledon men’s singles tournament will be held from July 1 to 14 on the open-air grass courts in London. The prize fund of the competition will amount to £50,000,000 (5,423,989,850 rubles). The current champion of the competition is Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
