The Government of Canada’s Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development has launched a five-year project aimed at creating the FABrIC semiconductor ecosystem, British electronics magazine Electronics Weekly writes on July 8.
The aim of the project is to provide financial and technical support to the industry, training of engineers and researchers. The project is expected to invest 120 million dollars (10.6 billion rubles).
The project is expected to boost the development of technological processes for the creation of semiconductor devices, quantum technologies, photonics and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Support will be provided to both private organizations and educational and research institutions.
The project is expected to train around 25,000 students and 1,000 researchers over five years. The project will be managed by the non-profit organisation CMC Microsystems.
