
Uzbekistan has offered to invest in the development and production of Afghan copper, oil and gas. The Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, Nuriddin Azizi, reported the press service of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 6.
Negotiations with Nuriddin Azizi were conducted by the head of the Ministry of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan, Bobir Islamov. Islamov proposed to build a copper smelter in Afghanistan for two copper plants in Uzbekistan.
“Afghanistan’s acting Minister of Industry and Trade Nuriddin Azizi praised the goodwill and interest in cooperation with Afghans and said that investment should be made in mines, oil and gas in northern Afghanistan because they have access to regional markets.”– the press service reports.

Azizi suggested that Uzbekistan also build mineral processing plants near Afghanistan’s copper deposits in Ghazni and Herat provinces.
As a result, officials agreed that Uzbek specialists will familiarize themselves with the oil, gas and copper deposits on site, conduct research and carry out necessary technical work.
