UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned on Monday Russian attacks on several Ukrainian cities that have killed at least 36 people, including at a children’s hospital, and which he called “particularly shocking.”
“Attacks on civilians are prohibited under international law and this type of attack is unacceptable and must stop immediately,” the UN chief said in a statement read by his spokesman, naming two medical facilities hit, including a major pediatric hospital in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
The latest wave of Russian attacks, which came on the eve of the NATO summit in Washington, was condemned by the European Union and several international leaders, joined by the Portuguese Foreign Ministry, before Guterres.
