The results of the parliamentary elections in France will lead to a sharp reduction in its ability to claim the role of an international leader, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said on his Telegram channel on July 7.
In his opinion, this loss of previous opportunities for France will be associated with the growing political competition of internal political forces, which he called “paralysis of power”.
According to Kosachev, the result of the elections will also mean that President Macron will no longer be able to speak on behalf of the entire people, as was the case before. The Russian politician called this aspect the main result of the elections.
He noted that France is currently striving to achieve leadership in regional, European and global issues, citing as examples the Ukraine crisis, the European Union crisis, as well as “Crisis of the NATO-centric world”.
“For the world, this is more good than bad, given the, to put it mildly, unconstructive agenda that Macron’s France has been promoting so far.”“, Kosachev summed up.
Let us recall that the second round of voting for the National Assembly ended in France on July 7. After the first round, the majority was in the hands of Marine Le Pen’s right-wing National Rally party, which was expected to win these elections, but according to the results of the second round, it is in third place. The first place was taken by the alliance of left-wing forces “New Popular Front” of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the second place was taken by the coalition of the pro-presidential party “Together”.
