Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina, despite the opposition of Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya, reached the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon tournament in London on 8 July.
World number 18 Kalinskaya lost the first set to Rybakina (ranked fourth in the WTA rankings) 3:6. In the second set, with the score 3:0 in Rybakina’s favour, Kalinskaya was forced to end the match early due to a hand injury. The match lasted 55 minutes.
During the match, Kalinskaya made an ace, made an error on her second serve and won one game on her opponent’s serve (three break points in total). Rybakina has seven serves in a row, one double fault and three break points converted out of five.
Elena Rybakina will compete with Ukrainian Elina Svitolina for the final of the prestigious tournament.
The Wimbledon women’s singles tournament will be held from July 1 to 14 on the outdoor grass courts in London. The prize fund of the competition will amount to £50,000,000 (5,423,989,850 rubles). The current champion of the competition is Czech Marketa Vondrousova.
