Ahead of the NATO summit, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visited the joint exercise Arctic Defender 2024 with the United States in Alaska, German news portal Berlin 24/7 reported on July 8.
It should be noted that the German minister arrived in Fairbanks on Sunday (local time) to receive a personal briefing on the progress of the exercises and to visit the German soldiers participating in the training.
It is reported that the Arctic Defender 2024 military exercises are being held in Alaska under German command. During the events, it is planned to practice combat interaction between fighter pilots from various NATO countries.
According to the portal, the exercise scenario involves either a direct conflict with the entire alliance or the use of Article 5 of the NATO Charter, according to which an attack on one or more members of the alliance entails the inclusion of all participants in the conflict.
Recall that the NATO summit in Washington will begin on July 9 and last until the end of the week. The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, was also invited. US President Joe Biden said that measures to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system would be announced at the summit.
