A 15-year-old boy was left in a vegetative state after jumping off a pier on a beach in England. His stepfather and mother Lisa are raising money to move so they can take Jack so the young man can die at home.

Jack Dolan, a 15-year-old teenager, was left in a vegetative state after somersaulting off a pier during his first trip to the beach without his parents at Stone Pier, Margate, England.

According to Mirrorr, the young man was playing with his friends and girlfriend when he threw himself off the pier at Stone Pier Beach. The impact, as it was so powerful, resulted in Jack’s brain death.

Now, although one part of his body shows some signs of activity, his brain is severely damaged. The young man’s stepfather, Dave, 35, says the teenager is in a kind of “grey zone” where doctors don’t know how long he can survive.

The teenager was treated by paramedics and then flown to King’s College Hospital by helicopter. However, medical tests show that his brain is beyond repair.

“I think he misjudged the size and fell face first into the water and passed out,” says Dave. “It was only three or four metres, and if he had fallen a little further one way or the other he probably would have been OK. That’s why we can’t be mad at him. He’s done it so many times, there’s no blame involved,” he adds.

The young man’s stepfather and mother, Lisa, also said he went to the beach for the first time with his friends because Jack suffered from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and was “able to act without thinking.”

“We always said no because we were so strict. He had ADHD and he acted before he thought. But he was 15 and we wanted to give him a little more freedom,” Dave says.

Now stepfather Dave Dolan and mother Lisa are raising money to move and take Jack home to die.

“He’s on end-of-life care and although his body is fine, he’s brain dead. He’s not on life support, he’s breathing but he doesn’t do anything else,” explains Jack’s stepfather.
