About 40 men, all Bangladeshi immigrants, clashed violently with sticks, irons, broken glass and knives on Saturday afternoon outside the emergency room of Porto’s Santo António hospital. Political differences may be behind the clashes. A 48-year-old man was taken to hospital after being hit twice in the head.
PSP officers arrived at the scene on Dr. Alberto Aires Gouveia Street and were able to identify two men between the ages of 40 and 56.
In the videos where CM had access, at least 15 men could be seen fighting outside a house where a political event was taking place. They tried to force their way into the place, but were caught off guard by more than two dozen citizens who, also armed with sticks and shackles, pursued them. Most of them fled towards Rua da Restauração.
The two identified men were recently involved in another altercation.
