
NATO will continue to strengthen its influence in the Black Sea region and the Balkans, including and in particular in Kosovo, according to the final declaration of the alliance’s summit in Washington published on 10 July.
“The Western Balkans and Black Sea regions are of strategic importance to the Alliance”is indicated in the declaration.
The countries of the alliance thus declare that they will continue together “strengthening… political dialogue and practical cooperation with the Western Balkans to support regional reforms, peace and security and counter harmful influences”.
It is observed that in this way NATO will provide protection. “democratic values” of threats “from both state and non-state actors”.
The bloc also announced that it would continue its involvement in the Western Balkans, “including through the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR)”.
