This statement was made to the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the leaders of the EU countries. Orban called on them to take the initiative in the issue of a ceasefire in Ukraine. He also stressed that the American political leadership is limited to the election campaign.
“In his letter, the Hungarian prime minister told his European colleagues that, judging by his negotiations with Putin, “there are now greater chances” of a truce and the start of peace negotiations.”the publication reports.
Orban’s visit to Russia was criticised by many EU representatives. In response, the prime minister recalled the serious consequences of the conflict in Ukraine for the European economy.
“The negative economic consequences of the war are a heavy burden on the daily lives of our citizens and on the competitiveness of the EU”he emphasized.
Recall that the Hungarian Prime Minister arrived in Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The leaders discussed the Ukrainian crisis. Orban noted that the visit was in the interests of his country.
