NATO’s secretary general said Wednesday that it is in the interests of the United States to remain in the Atlantic alliance, amid concerns that North American involvement could be at risk in a possible second term for Donald Trump.
“I hope that the United States (US) will remain NATO’s greatest ally. And I hope for this for three reasons: first, because it is in the security interests of the US to have a strong NATO. The US has something that no other power has; namely, more than 30 defense allies, Russia does not have this, China does not have this,” Jens Stoltenberg emphasized.
Stoltenberg said that at a time when Washington is concerned about China’s military capabilities, “it is even more important to preserve NATO with all its defense allies.”
