A group of researchers from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications presented field test results of the sixth generation (6G) communication system at the seminar, China Daily reports.
A team of scientists led by Zhang Ping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, created a test network based on previous-generation infrastructure (4G and 5G), combined with artificial intelligence technologies. In field tests, the researchers managed to significantly increase the capacity and efficiency of the communication system.
The developed platform will assist Chinese institutions in future developments in this area and will be used to test key 6G technologies. China plans to develop technologies for 6G digital cellular networks by 2025. They are expected to begin to be deployed from 2030.
