Iran did not supply missiles to Yemen’s Houthi movement Ansar Allah, the Islamic Republic’s representative to the UN said on July 11, commenting on an Associated Press report that the Houthis attacked a Norwegian ship with an Iranian missile, IRNA reported.
On December 12, 2023, the Houthis announced an anti-ship missile attack on the Norwegian ship Strinda, which was heading to Israel with a cargo of oil.
The Associated Press, citing U.S. officials, reported that examination of the missile debris shows the Houthis likely fired an Iranian Noor anti-ship missile at the ship.
“Iran did not provide weapons to Ansar Allah.”the representative of the Islamic Republic said. However, Iran is aware that the Houthis have acquired great military capabilities by relying on their own forces.
“The extension of the war against them (the Houthis) is the main factor in the development of their military potential”said the diplomat.
