The Israeli army has rendered the Shujaiya neighbourhood in Gaza City completely uninhabitable as it continues a tough offensive in the Gazan capital, forcing residents to move towards the centre of the Strip.
The Israeli negotiating delegation has met with Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahuafter returning this evening from Doha, and has asked them to travel to Cairo this afternoon to continue the talks for a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
The head of the Shin Bet, Rum Barheads the Israeli negotiating team traveling to Cairo; while the mission that negotiated in Doha – where Qatar acts as Hamas’ interlocutor – has been led by the head of the Mossad, David Barnea.
One of the delicate points of the negotiations is the Philadelphia Corridor Controlthe 14-kilometer border between the Strip and Egypt, now occupied by Israel, which demands “an end to arms smuggling” through that route.
According to leaks in some media, there would already be close to an agreement between the parties for Egypt and the US to take control of the corridor. The continuation of the talks in Cairo may have to do with that point, as well as with the Reopening of Rafah crossingclosed since May when the Israeli Army took the city.
However, Hamas has been more cautious and said that mediators have not yet informed the Islamist group of “any progress in negotiations aimed at a ceasefire and exchange of prisoners.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has completely abandoned Shujaiya neighborhood uninhabitablein Gaza City, the rescue services have denounced today, while maintaining a tough offensive in the Gazan capital, which is forcing residents to move towards the centre of the Strip.
The Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip has already rescued about 60 bodies in Shujaiya, after the withdrawal of Israeli troops on Wednesday, but warns that dozens of bodies remain trapped under the rubble.
According to testimonies from survivors in the neighbourhood, the army attacked the displaced people after giving them security guarantees to leave.
Israeli troops are maintaining a tough offensive in the Gazan capital, forcing residents to move towards the centre of the Palestinian territory, where Israeli air strikes are also relentless and at least 30 people have been killed since early this morning. The death toll in nine months exceeds 38,300 and the number of injured exceeds 88,200according to the Ministry of Health.
With pamphlets Israel ordered the “total evacuation” of the city on Wednesday, warning that the capital “will continue to be a dangerous combat zone” and causing the closure of virtually all hospitals in the area.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) He said that the Israeli army’s orders to evacuate Gaza City “will only fuel the suffering” of Palestinians, among whom there are already a large number of displaced people.
For its part, Hamas, as it has done on other similar occasions, has assured that these orders are a form of “pressure” and “psychological terror” against Palestinian citizens, and has issued another warning about the “passages of death”, in reference to the “safe zones” designated by Israel, according to a statement reported by the Palestinian newspaper Filastin.
