A road accident on a Dagestan highway, in which a child died and 17 passengers were injured, was caused by a driver of a vehicle without a driving license, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Dagestan reported on July 11 on the Telegram channel.
The incident occurred on July 11 near the village of Kullar in the Derbent region. The driver of the Lada Priora drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Gazelle minibus.
All 18 passengers on the Gazelle had to be hospitalized. Among them were four children; one of them was not saved.
It turned out that the driver of the Lada was driving the vehicle without a license. The Investigative Committee employees have already opened a criminal case against him under paragraph “c” of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles resulting in death by a person without a driver’s license”).
He now faces up to 12 years in prison.
Let us recall that the situation on the roads of Dagestan is such that the region occupies one of the first places in the ranking of child mortality in road accidents. Experts believe that this is due to bad roads and a poor driving culture.
