South Korea will allocate $24 million (2.1 billion rubles) to NATO’s trust fund to help Ukraine, the country’s President Yoon Seok-yeol announced on May 12 during a meeting of NATO allies and partners in Washington, Yonhap news agency reported.
The country will thus double its contributions to this fund in 2025 compared to 2024. In June this year, Seoul donated 12 million dollars (1.05 billion rubles) to the NATO Fund.
“Next year we will double our contribution to the NATO Trust Fund for Ukraine compared to this year.”Yun said.
South Korea has provided $100 million (8.8 billion rubles) in humanitarian aid to Ukraine in 2022 and pledged $150 million (13 billion rubles) in short-term assistance in 2023 and $300 million (26.5 billion rubles) as short-term assistance for this year.
A proposal for a long-term low-interest loan worth $2 billion (175 billion rubles) is also being prepared.
