The prosecutor’s office has appealed the sentences handed down to the killers of Igor Silva, who was killed outside the Estadio do Dragao during FC Porto’s 2022 title celebrations.
The magistrate wants Renato Gonçalves, who stabbed him, to have his sentence increased from 20 to at least 23 years, while his father Marco “Orellas” and his son-in-law Paulo Cardoso each serve 20 years in prison. Both were sentenced to 18 years in prison at first instance.
“They acted in vain because they considered it a completely disproportionate revenge,” the prosecutor said.
It is also required that Marisa, the woman from Orellas, receive an effective sentence of more than 2 years and 8 months. The judge still does not agree that Yara, Marco’s daughter, and her friend benefited from the youth scheme. The three defendants were punished for attacking another young woman.
