Biden maintains that it is not “unusual” for there to be doubts about his candidacy at this point in the presidential race and says there is still a “long way” in front.

The campaign had proposed holding that debate months earlier than usual in presidential campaigns with the aim of reassure voters worried about his 81 years.
However, the meeting had the opposite effect, with legislators from his party and prestigious media outlets putting in doubt whether he will be able to hold on or whether he should make way for another candidate to face Trump in November.
So far, Biden has made it clear that he does not plan to withdraw from the campaign and influential figures in the Democratic Party, such as former President Barack Obama (2009-2017), have closed ranks around him.
Biden is the oldest president in US history and the first octogenarian to occupy the White House. If he beats Trump in the November 5 election and serves the full four-year term, he would leave power at 86 years old.
