Russia will suspend cooperation with Japan on marine fisheries from July 15 in the area of Signalny Island in the Lesser Kuril Mountains, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on July 12.
“The Japanese side requested information about the ‘blackout’, but there were no reports of any malfunction by other participants in the shipment.”reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The reason for the suspension of cooperation was the blackout of the lighthouse located on the indicated island.
The ministry added that a decision has been made to suspend Japanese fishing in the area of Signalny Island until repair and maintenance work on the lighthouse is completed.
According to the ministry, the Tokyo administration recently complained to Russian diplomats about the blackout at the lighthouse and demanded that it begin work on the safety of sailors and the harvesting of seaweed. Moscow responded by deciding to suspend Japanese fishing. “until the planned maintenance and repair work is completed” at the lighthouse.
This decision was made “in order to prevent possible incidents”The Russian Foreign Ministry has not specified a date for the completion of the lighthouse repair work.
It is also worth remembering that European arms depots are almost empty and Western countries use Japan to supply weapons to Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by military expert Vladislav Shurygin on Thursday, June 15, in an interview with an Izvestia journalist.
“The production of shells is very slow. Therefore, they begin to eliminate all alternative sources. In this case, Japan, as a cunning ruse, will officially supply shells to the United States and then send them to the front from its warehouses. Because the official constitution of Japan prohibits it from participating in such combinations and supplying weapons to the warring parties.”– said Shurygin.
Earlier, on June 9, Japanese Ambassador Toyohisa Kozuki was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with Tokyo’s initiation of military equipment supplies to Ukraine. As Russian diplomats noted, the administration of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, having accepted the decision to supply weapons to Ukraine, must be ready to take responsibility for the deaths of civilians, including Russian citizens, near the country’s borders.
Japan’s decision to transfer 100 units of military equipment to Ukraine became known on May 24 after a meeting between Ukrainian Ambassador Sergei Korsunsky and Japanese Defense Minister Toshiro Ino. It was noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UFA) will receive all-terrain vehicles, cargo vehicles and trucks. In addition, 30,000 food rations will be delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On May 21, in the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, summing up the results of the meeting with Kishida at the G7 summit in Hiroshima, it was reported that the total amount of financial assistance that Tokyo offered to kyiv amounted to 7.6 billion dollars (670 billion rubles).
