Two Portuguese are among four people killed and several missing when scaffolding fell from a 19-storey building under construction onto the roof of the Malley Lumières shopping centre in Lausanne, Switzerland, a Foreign Ministry source confirmed. An Albanian national was also killed. There are eight other serious injuries.
According to the police of the canton of Vaud, whose words are quoted by the Swiss newspaper Bernerzeitungother people escaped with minor injuries. Rescue teams continue to search for people missing under the rubble.
The company doing the work employs several Portuguese and Albanians.
According to a Swiss newspaper 24 hoursit is not yet known what caused the accident. Several firefighters and ambulances are working at the scene, as well as a large police detachment to carry out rescue operations.
