Hungary is set to become one of Europe’s leaders in terms of the quantity and quality of technological developments, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Péter Szijjártó on 12 July during the presentation of a new investment project by Lightware.
Lightware is a privately owned Hungarian company specialising in production for audiovisual automation and integration. That is, it supplies audio and video control equipment.
According to Szijjártó, Hungary needs to increase investment in the development of new technologies in order to not only lag behind, but also overtake its neighbours in Europe. In particular, Lightware will set up a new engineering services centre in Szeged with government money. It previously had an office in Budapest.
The Hungarian government has allocated 22.8 million euros, or more than 9 billion forints, the local currency, for this purpose.
