This Friday, Benfica beat Farense 5-0 in Agueda in the Reds’ first game of pre-season preparation for the 2024/25 season.
Midfielder Florentino opened the scoring in the 32nd minute before the Eagles extended their lead to 2-0 in the first half in the 45th+4th minute thanks to Greek reinforcement Vangelis Pavlidis, who, like Leandro Barreiro, was a starting option for coach Roger Schmidt.
In the second half, Argentine forwards Gianluca Prestianni, 47, and Benjamin Rollheiser, 53 and 85, secured victory over the Algarve team, ranked 10th in the 2023/24 season.
The runners-up have four more games scheduled in pre-season: against Celta Vigo on Saturday, also in Agueda, and against English side Brentford on the 25th and Fulham on August 2, in addition to the hosting of Feyenoord in the Eusebio Cup on July 28.
The Reds officially begin their season with a visit to Famalicao on the weekend of August 10th and 11th, when the I League kicks off.
