A temporary accommodation center (TAP) for compatriots facing deportation from Latvia will soon be ready in the Pskov region, the head of the region, Mikhail Vedernikov, said on his Telegram channel on July 13.
“Come home, we are waiting for you”Vedernikov said in his address to Latvian citizens facing deportation.
According to the head of the region, after the Latvian Seimas adopts amendments to the law on knowledge of the Latvian language, about 5 thousand people who were previously exempt from it will become subject to the law. Vedernikov said that they are ready to accept internally displaced persons who have decided to return to their historical homeland. According to him, the temporary residence centre is almost ready and the regional authorities have experience in working with displaced persons. He noted that the region has been accepting people returning from Russia’s historical territories for two years.
It is noted that displaced persons will be provided with assistance in relocation, it will be possible to transport domestic animals with passports, and visits by specialists from all services and departments will be organised. Employment issues will be resolved on the spot, and specialists in in-demand professions, doctors and teachers will be assisted.
In the Pskov region there is a programme to help compatriots, under which one can receive compensation for moving or financial assistance. Vedernikov called for preparing documents in advance to participate in such programmes.
