Plans for the future of a major automaker, Toyota Motor, outlined the company’s new president, Koji Sato, on February 13, NHK reports.
During his speech to reporters, Sato stated that the worldwide practice of using energy types is at odds with the common attitude towards them. In this sense, the company under the leadership of the new president will focus on the implementation of so-called environmental initiatives, such as the development of electric vehicles.
In particular, the company intends to complete the development of next-generation batteries for Lexus vehicles by 2026. In addition, one of the corporation’s main activities will be research aimed at creating cities that implement the principle of decarbonization, a total ban of carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
Toyota intends to move to a new management model from April 1. Within its framework, the new president intends to reduce the number of executive directors from eleven to eight, including Sato himself.
