The Alive Festival will return to Passeio Marítimo de Algés (Oeiras) on July 10, 11 and 12, 2025, the organization announced at a press conference for the 16th edition, which will end this Saturday to a full house.
“We hope to live up to ‘the best line-up of all time,'” said promoter Alvaro Covois of All New about the next edition, referring to the slogan of the festival, which first took place in 2007 and takes place every July, always on the Passeio Marítimo de Alges.
The event, which ends this Saturday, sold out 55,000 people a day, according to the promoter, who recalled that the lineup included 124 artists and 129 performances.
The highlight of this Saturday’s show will be North Americans Pearl Jam, who are scheduled to play the main stage at 11:10 p.m. Tickets for this Saturday sold out in about 24 hours when the band’s presence at NOS Alive was announced in December.
The President of the Oeiras City Council, Isaltino Morais, stressed that the festival “has become a kind of engine for many of the transformations that have taken place” on the Algés waterfront.
“Over the next five years we will see an extraordinary transformation in this space,” whose management is shared between the Oeiras City Council and the Lisbon Port Authority, he said.
According to Isaltino Morais, the accessibility of the Algés promenade will be improved and there will be “the possibility of expanding the area.”
The transformation will take place “up to the mouth of the Jamor River to ensure the preservation of the area’s environment and create conditions for it to be used by all.”
The connection between Algés and Passeio Marítimo is via a tunnel, which is closed at certain times during the festival, forcing the public to take part of the IC17/CRIL (Additional Route 17/Circle of the Regional Interior of Lisbon) to reach the other side of the railway line.
The Oeiras Chamber has promised in recent years to build a pedestrian bridge that will connect Algés with Passeio Marítimo.
During a visit to the site on Wednesday, the vice-president of the Oeiras city council said the project to build a pedestrian bridge that will connect Algés and the corresponding Paseo Marítimo avenue is “in its final stages of implementation.”
“The tender was empty. As soon as it is possible, we will re-open the tender for the construction of the bridge, but it will be carried out,” Francisco Rocha Gonçalves told reporters, explaining that there will be two bridges: “one smaller, one wider.” about 30 meters high, which will certainly help festival-goers stop climbing CRIL.”
At a press conference on Saturday, Alvaro Covois welcomed the announcement of the expansion of the site, “which will allow the festival to be closer to the sea.”
While there is room to expand the venue, capacity will remain at 55,000, he said later in statements to Luse.
The organisation’s desire is to be able to increase the area of some stages, other than the main one, which at many concerts completely sell out, as happened, for example, with Black Pumas or The Parcels on Thursday.
The final show of the 16th edition of NOS Alive is scheduled for 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
In addition to Pearl Jam, this Saturday will also feature artists and bands such as Sum41, Khruangbin, The Cat Empire, Vitalic, Manuel João Vieira and Fernando Rocha.
