“I heard gunshots. At first I thought they were firecrackers, but then someone started shouting, ‘He’s been hit, he’s been hit!'”
The victim, who was in his 30s, was shot in the head and trapped between the seats, leaving “a lot of blood and brain matter” around him, the doctor said.
“He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse. He was in cardiopulmonary arrest. With the help of three other people, I was able to get him off and put him on a bench to perform resuscitation,” he said.
Two Pennsylvania State Police officers later approached the victim, picked him up and transported him, presumably to an ambulance, Sweetland said. The victim was eventually pronounced dead.
The attack, which occurred just days before Donald Trump became the official Republican presidential nominee, left two dead, including the shooter, and two seriously injured. Trump was hit in the ear, but is healthy.
