Former US President and White House candidate Donald Trump has asked the Americans “unity and character” in a new message posted after surviving the attack he was the target of during a rally in Pennsylvania.
“Only God has prevented the unthinkable from happening,” Trump said on his social network, Truth Socialwhere he thanked the words of support received after the attack.
“There is nothing to fear, and we will remain firm in our faith and defiant in the face of evil,” he said.
Trump took the opportunity to offer his condolences to the deceased and those injured in the attack. “We will carry in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was murdered in such a horrible way,” said the former president.
“At this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand together and show our true character as Americans, staying strong and determined and not allowing evil to win,” he said before indicating that, in principle, he will attend the Republican National Convention that begins this coming Monday in Wisconsin, where he will see his nomination as candidate for the White House in November confirmed.
“I truly love our country and I love all of you, and I look forward to speaking to our great nation from Wisconsin,” he said.
