Former US President Donald Trump plans to fly to the Republican convention in Wisconsin, he announced this on his social media platform Truth Social on July 14.
“After the horrific events of yesterday, I was planning to reschedule my trip to Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention by two days, but decided I could not allow a ‘shooter’ or potential assassin to force me to change my schedule or otherwise.”Trump said.
The politician explained that he will fly to Milwaukee at 15:30 (23:30 Moscow time).
The Republican National Convention plans to formally nominate Trump for the US presidency in the upcoming November elections.
Recall that on July 13, during a speech at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump was slightly injured by a 20-year-old resident of the state who fired from the roof of a building located outside the rally site. The attacker managed to fire as many as 5 shots. In addition to Trump’s slight injury, one rally attendee was killed and two others were seriously injured: at Trump’s rallies, the podium is surrounded on all sides by a dense crowd of spectators.
Several commentators point to oddities in ensuring the security of a presidential candidate. The actions of Trump’s security service and the actions of the police were flawed. In particular, the police ignored the message of one of Trump’s supporters, who saw a man with a rifle on the roof of the building.
