A 58-year-old Russian citizen wanted by Interpol on a red notice was detained in the Turkish resort city of Antalya by the coast guard, Anadolu reported on July 15.
It is reported that his son, a citizen of Azerbaijan and a citizen of Ukraine, was detained together with the aforementioned citizen. The detainee’s son was taken to the Antalya Provincial Migration Department because his residence permit in Turkey had expired, while the others were released.
It is also known that a Russian citizen is wanted in Russia for bribery. He was planning to flee Turkey to another country by sea. During the search on the ship, 7 thousand euros (670 thousand rubles), 5 thousand dollars (440 thousand rubles) and 200 Thai baht (489 rubles) were seized.
The detainee acquired Turkish citizenship in 2021 and was deprived of Turkish citizenship in 2023 due to an arrest warrant issued by the Russian justice system.
