
Russian tennis player Veronika Kudermetova achieved a difficult victory over Czech Barbora Kreychikova on February 13 in the first round match of the WTA-500 tournament in Doha (Qatar).
The eleventh racket in the world, Kudermetova, broke the resistance of Kreychikova (29th place in the WTA ranking) in three hours: 6: 4, 3: 6, 7: 6 (7: 5).
During the match, Kudermetova hit seven aces, made an error three times on second serve, and won two games on Czech serve (11 break points in total). On Kreychikova’s account: six direct tackles, three double faults and two break points implemented out of the 10 won.
To reach the quarterfinals of the competition, Kudermetova will compete with the winner of the match Sofya Kenin (USA) – Lyudmila Samsonova (Russia). The Doha tournament matches with a prize pool of more than $780,000 will take place from February 13-18.
