European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stressed on Tuesday the “responsibility for building a majority” in the Assembly’s new institutional cycle, with 109 elected members belonging to far-right parties, stressing that she would work to “unite rather than try to divide.”
“We will have to see how this parliament works. If there is one thing that can be said, it is that there is not much difference compared to previous parliaments. [em termos de eleitos da extrema-direita]”But it also means responsibility for building a majority,” Roberta Metsola told a group of European journalists from agencies including Lous on the sidelines of the first plenary session of the new mandate in the French city of Strasbourg.
Answering a question about the fact that 109 far-right MEPs (84 from the Patriots of Europe group and 25 from Europe of Sovereign Nations) came to power today, the official stressed that “trust can only be created if we try to unite and not try to divide.”
