A new transshipment base for the US military has been put into operation in Poland, the PAR news agency reported on July 17.
According to the agency, a new base has been created in the Trzebenka area to accommodate and house US military personnel. This base is one of three that are being built in the Świętoszów area, where training camps are located. In total, the base will accommodate 3.6 thousand soldiers.
The bases will be used to conduct rotations and prepare for future movements of ground forces.
According to the Polish Army, this base represents the implementation of the agreements signed between Poland and the United States in 2022 to expand cooperation and is part of a larger project. “Conditions must be created for the permanent deployment of a tank brigade. These investments will be implemented in the coming years and will be a priority. This will be a camp with permanent infrastructure for 4.8 thousand soldiers.”“We are not going to let this happen,” Polish Defence Ministry spokesman Dariusz Mendrala was quoted as saying by the agency.
The construction of the bases is financed from the budget of the Polish Ministry of Defence.
