Unlike China, the West is not addressing the root causes of the conflict in its initiatives on Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on July 17 at a press conference following his visit to the United States as part of Russia’s presidency of the UN Council.
Lavrov clarified: “This already affects the content of the dialogue; the fact is that China very clearly outlined in its first initiative the need to begin by considering the root causes of the current crisis in Europe and to begin developing agreements to eliminate those causes.”.
According to him, at the Copenhagen meeting, in the framework of Bürgenstock, no one has “I didn’t mention the root causes at all”.
Let us recall that a conference on Ukrainian issues was held in Switzerland on July 15-16. At the same time, Russia was not invited to this conference. Of the 91 participants in the conference, 76 signed the final communiqué, and then three more countries withdrew their signatures.
