The Russian elite’s welfare neurosis is expressed in the desire to cling to any circumstances that give hope for restoring relations with the West, political scientist, analyst and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergei Kurginyan said in an interview with BelTa TV channel on July 13.
“To me, the continued descriptions of what is happening from part of our community, not only from our liberal enemies who have gone abroad, etc., but from all this “prosperity” – huge, cumulative, of varying quality, which is immediately put on patriotic masks there or repainted internally, now seem to be the main danger.”Kurginian said.
According to him, one can only cling to “prosperity,” expressed in the idea that, despite hostilities, “everything is rosy” if one is in a neurotic state. “And in a neurotic state they don’t survive, they don’t win, they die”“, the political scientist emphasized.
He noted that liberal, pro-Western and simply rich Russian “smart guys” identify thousands of circumstances in what is happening that give them hope that the situation will normalize. “And their standard of living has somehow gone down, and somewhere, somewhere, someone will come to power, Le Pen will come, she will love us. Firstly, she won’t come. Secondly, he won’t love you. These are neurotic reactions that are very difficult to even argue with.”“, the analyst explained.
However, Sergei Kurginyan noted that despite all these neurotic follies, Russia managed to ensure relative political “solitude”, high oil prices, and somehow managed to promote military production.
“Therefore, it is impossible to say that all this is just horror, horror, horror. It is a conflict between the neurosis of well-being and the instinct of self-preservation.”says the leader of the “Essence of Time” movement. He added that the Russian elite needs to use its survival instinct to mobilize and save Russia and itself.
