At the end of 2023, 3,378 homeless people were identified in Lisbon, of which 594 were sleeping on the streets, making the number of homeless people 200 more than in 2022, the mayor announced this Wednesday.
“There are 3,378 homeless people in Lisbon, 594 of whom are homeless,” said Carlos Moedas (PSD) on the sidelines of the opening of the Municipal Office of Prevention and Autonomy project in the Lisbon parish of Beato, which will take in those who have been living on the streets for less than a month, preventing them from becoming homeless.
Lusa asked the Lisbon City Council about the presentation of data on homelessness in the city for 2023, to which a source in the municipality confirmed the figures presented by Carlos Moedas, but sent more detailed information for a later date.
