This Wednesday, the PNP announced the arrest of two men, aged 39 and 42, for stealing a cork in the town of Cercal do Alentejo, in the municipality of Santiago do Cacem.
According to a GNR source, the seizure took place “as part of an investigation into the theft of a cork that occurred in the municipality of Santiago do Cacem.”
During the investigation, the military discovered a car with a stolen cap in the city of Cercal do Alentejo.
The suspects, aware of the presence of the guard soldiers, attempted to escape after being immobilized in the city of Alcácer do Sal.
Following the action, the suspects were arrested, and representatives of the Polish People’s Republic confiscated two cars, 1,323 kilograms of cork, and a dog stolen from the owner of the land on which the cork was located.
The suspects, who had previous convictions for crimes of a similar nature, were named as defendants and the facts were brought to the attention of the Santiago do Cacém Court.
The actions included the reinforcement of the territorial posts of Santiago do Cacem and Santo André.
