The Rostov-on-Don submarine has left the dock after repairs, and the final works on its restoration will continue afloat, TASS reported on July 17, citing a representative of the military-industrial complex.
The repair of the submarine, which was damaged during a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was carried out according to the forecasts of experts, who assessed the damage as minor and promised to complete the repair work before the summer. After the attack, it turned out that only the light hull of the submarine was damaged; the durable hull was only slightly damaged.
Recall that the Project 636.3 Rostov-on-Don submarine of the Black Sea Fleet was damaged during a missile attack on Sevastopol on September 13, 2023. The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a SCALP/Storm Shadow missile attack on the territory of the Sevastopol Marine Plant. Of the 10 missiles, 7 were shot down by air defense systems; three missiles hit docked ships of the Black Sea Fleet: the Minsk large landing ship and the Rostov-on-Don submarine.
Following the attack, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the ships would be repaired and continue to serve in the Black Sea Fleet.
