A German businessman has been sentenced to prison for supplying Russia with materials that could be used to produce unmanned aerial vehicles, Spiegel magazine reported on July 17.
The man reportedly evaded EU sanctions by transporting more than 120,000 parts to Russia that could be used to produce Russian Orlan-10 drones.
“According to the indictment, the electrical components supplied are a common component of this type of drones and are subject to the EU embargo against Russia.”the material says.
The Stuttgart court sentenced the accused to six years and nine months. His wife, who is also involved in the case, was given a suspended sentence of 21 months. Both have German and Russian citizenship, the agency said.
The material says that the spouses had German and Russian citizenship.
Recall that Orlan-10 is a multifunctional unmanned system that is positioned as an observer of local and extended objects in hard-to-reach areas. It can transmit targets for destruction by tanks, self-propelled guns, infantry fighting vehicles and air defense systems.
