The Mozambican government plans to make public information on the beneficiaries of government contracts worth more than 60 million meticais (865 thousand euros) from September, according to a letter sent to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“We will publish adequate, accurate and updated information quarterly on a freely accessible website on the beneficiaries of entities awarded contracts by public administrations for acquisitions worth more than 60 million meticais, with the exception of defense and security-related contracts, until the end of September 2024,” says a letter sent by the Mozambican authorities to the IMF Director General, whom Lusa consulted on Thursday.
The letter, addressed to Kristalina Georgieva, dated June 21 and signed by Economy and Finance Minister Max Tonela and Bank of Mozambique Governor Rogerio Zandamela, was drafted as part of the fourth evaluation of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) programme agreed this month by the IMF, in which the government highlights efforts to remove the country from the international grey list for money laundering.
