The first visit took place after the location chosen for the event was announced, and the second on the day of filming. According to analysis of mobile phone data, Thomas Matthew Crooks was at the scene for seventy minutes.
Authorities found photos of US President Joe Biden and Donald Trump on the cellphone of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The suspect’s search history included the date of the Democratic National Convention and events attended by the former US president.
Images of congressional leaders such as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and House Republican President Mike Johnson were also found, police sources said.
On Saturday, a 20-year-old man punched a former US president in the ear, killing a man and wounding two people in the room before being shot dead by police.
The motive for the attack is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
