
Moscow “Spartak” signed a new contract with the head coach of the team Guillermo Abascal on February 13, the press service of the football club reports.
The agreement with the 33-year-old Spanish specialist will be valid until the summer of 2025.
“I want to thank the club for the trust. Spartak is a family. We keep moving towards victories together!” – Abascal commented on the extension of the contract.
Spartak General Director Yevgeny Melezhikov noted that both the club and the coach were striving to conclude a new contract and that the negotiations were conducted constructively. “We will continue working together for the benefit of our club”Melezhikov said.
Let’s remember that Abascal has led Spartak since the summer of 2022. Under his leadership, the team played 17 games in the Russian Championship, 6 in the Russian Cup and 1 game in the Russian Super Cup. Spartak won 15 wins and lost 6 times. The team finished the first part of the Russian Championship in second place with 36 points. In February, Spartak won the RPL Winter Cup.
