Woman arrested in Brazil for burning husband’s penis with caustic soda on suspicion of adultery

A man from the city of Uruaçu, in the northern Brazilian state of Goiás, suffered severe burns and permanent deformities to his penis when his own 56-year-old wife burned him with caustic soda in revenge for an alleged betrayal. The woman, arrested last Tuesday, July 15, told police she wanted to mutilate her husband so that he could not have other women “in the wild,” as she suspected.

After her arrest, the defendant confessed to the crime, which she said she had planned in advance and prepared for the suspicion that her husband, to whom she had been married for 10 years and who had recently ceased to seek her intimate relations, had an affair or had relations with other women outside the home, which she said was the reason for his lack of interest in her. In an act of revenge, the woman secretly gave her husband a strong sedative on the day of the crime and, when he fell asleep, poured large quantities of caustic soda, a highly caustic product, over his genitals.

Despite being taken to hospital and subsequently examined by doctors of various specialties, according to the investigation, the man is unlikely to be able to have sexual intercourse again. The penis suffered very deep burns, lacerations and deformations that caused irreparable damage to the structure and functioning of the organ.

The crime took place on April 25, but the accused have only now been arrested after a lengthy investigation by local police. After being charged with a crime involving grievous bodily harm, which carries a prison sentence of up to 13 years, the woman was sent to the Barro Alto Regional Women’s Prison in the same region, where she will await trial.
