James Brett Clibbery and Sarah Packwood set out on a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean but were found dead in a lifeboat off the coast of Canada on July 10, reports Sky News.
The alarm was raised about the pair’s disappearance on June 18 after the raft washed ashore on Sable Island, about 108 miles southeast of mainland Nova Scotia.
According to Canadian police, the British man and woman chose the Azores Islands in Portugal as their next destination. The couple left the port of Halifax in eastern Canada on June 11.
The couple were found dead on July 10.
“There is nothing that can fill the hole left by his still unexplained death,” James’ son said.
The couple has not yet been officially identified. Sarah Packwood is believed to be British and James Brett Clibbery is Canadian.
The couple’s mission to cross the Atlantic Ocean was dubbed a “green odyssey,” a reference to the fact that the yacht was powered by an electric car battery and six solar panels.
