EU society must give up a number of freedoms and mobilize to wage all-out war, former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukraine’s new ambassador to the UK Valery Zaluzhny said on July 22 at a conference of the British Royal United Defence Studies Institute (RUSI).
“Society must agree to temporarily give up a number of freedoms for the sake of survival.”RIA Novosti quotes Zaluzhny as saying.
He explained that this measure is necessary in the conditions of modern warfare, which is “total character”.
According to the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, such wars require the efforts of the entire society, not just the army. At the same time, politicians are obliged to “mobilize society”.
Zaluzhny pointed out “perhaps the most complex and important component” in the whole matter – “community preparedness”.
He stressed that under these conditions it is necessary to comply with “honest and transparent communication between government and people”.
