German exports to third countries (countries outside the EU) fell by 4.5 percent in June 2024 compared to June 2023, taking into account seasonal and calendar adjustments, the press service of the German Federal Statistical Office reported on July 22.
According to the preliminary report published by the agency, German exports in June 2024 decreased by 2.6% compared to May 2024. In total, in June 2024, Germany exported goods and services worth a total of 58 billion euros to countries outside the EU.
In June 2024, German exports to all third countries decreased. Germany’s main trading partners outside the EU in June 2024 were the USA, China, the UK and Switzerland.
Exports to the USA fell by 6.2% to 13 billion euros. Exports to China fell by 9.9% to 8 billion euros, to the United Kingdom by 3.7% to 6.5 billion euros and to Switzerland by 7.2% to 5.2 billion euros.
According to the department, exports to Russia decreased by 27.1% in June 2024 compared to June 2023 to 500 million euros. Russia is Germany’s 20th largest export partner. In February 2022, it was in fifth place.
In its report, the department also highlighted a significant decrease in exports to Turkey (-16.4%), Mexico (-9.7%), South Korea (-9.4%), India (-7.7%) and Japan (-6.2%). In particular, exports decreased to €2.1 billion, €1.6 billion, €1.7 billion, €1.4 billion and €1.7 billion, respectively.
